Working remotely and visiting with family

Been in Louisiana a couple more days now, and I love how everything’s going. I’ve been working remotely since Monday, and while I do miss my second monitor and standing desk, I wouldn’t trade this to go back into the office. On breaks and in the morning and evening I get to spend time with my family, and the rest of the day I’m doing the same thing I usually do every weekday. “Bug busting,” as one family member puts it. I can see why working remote is seen as such a huge perk. It’s enough to get me daydreaming about working remote from all kinds of places. Of course, I’d have to be able to bring my dog with me. So probably my remote working range is limited to the United States for now. I’ll have to look into flying internationally with a pet. But that wouldn’t be anytime soon anyway. For now, if I go international, it’s just short stays, and I take vacation so I can see them proper.

More family came to visit for today, so I shifted my work schedule around so that I could visit with them while they were here. We all just sat around and talked mostly, but one of them has the same name I do so my grandmother had to get a picture of the two of us together. One of them is in a Krewe (?) in New Orleans, so they perform at Mardi Gras and other holidays, which sounded pretty entertaining. I’ve only been to Mardi Gras once, and just on a Thursday before the main event, but that was enough excitement for me. Anyways, we talked about dogs and tornadoes and how many toilets a house should have.

I keep thinking of getting back into baking and then telling myself that I should wait until my diet’s over. But I’ll miss all the fun of holiday baking. Maybe I’ll still do some baking for the holidays. Ooh, but what?
