Wheel in the sky keeps on turning…
|It’s been a great week. I traveled down to Carmel-By-The-Sea for a few days; I always have such a pleasant time down there. The beach is particularly fantastic, and it allows dogs, which is important for me. So I took my pup down there for hours and hours this week, and we also spent quite a bit of time exploring downtown Carmel. It is such an adorable downtown, with all kinds of art studios and boutiques and such. The entire town pretty much is relatively dog-friendly; it’s so convenient to be able to bring mine into a bakery and just sit there as I read.
Speaking of, I did quite a bit of reading while I was there, and I gave myself a break from studying for the Linux+ exam to read Gödel, Escher, Bach, which is such a fascinating and nerdy read. I’m about a third of the way through it, but it’s such a heavy tome and I’m now going to return to studying and reading shorter books (for an admittedly silly reason — I want to have more books on my Books Read 2019 list :3), so I’m not sure when I’ll finish reading that one.
The knitting pattern / swatch is coming along pretty nicely too. I’ve also rediscovered Sister Mountain, a blog about developing knitting patterns, which has been inspiring. Maybe I’ll try to start developing patterns instead of just improvising things and then doing no follow-up with them.
One particularly big success this week though was on the cooking front — I went back to that board games gathering that I’ve been going to for a month or so, and this time I made hummus. It was quite a hit; there was none of it left by the end of the evening. I’m really happy at just how well it went down, as I had pretty much picked a recipe online more-or-less at random; it was just one of the top hits for hummus recipe plugged into Google. The recipe is here, if you’d like to give it a shot yourself. Highly recommended!
